If you update the kernel and a menu entry is not generated in /boot/grub/grub.conf.

Grubby Fix
Add a menu entry with the “grubby” command
grubby --add-kernel=/boot/vmlinuz-2.6.32-573.12.1.el6.x86_64 --initrd=/boot/initramfs-2.6.32-573.12.1.el6.x86_64.img --title="CentOS (2.6.32-573.12.1.el6.x86_64)" --config-file=/boot/grub/grub.conf --copy-default --make-default
Required arguments:
- –add-kernel=kernel-path
- –initrd=initramfs-path
- –title=title-here
- –config-file=path-to-grub.conf
Optional Arguments:
- –copy-default ⇒ Copies kernel arguments from other entries
- –make-default ⇒ Makes the new grub entry the default boot option
